TYPICAL ITINERARY
Set sail from Fremantle on your 46 night South Africa & India Ocean Odyssey Cruise to:
Singapore
The commercial center of Southeast Asia, this island city-state of four million people is a metropolis of modern high-rises, Chinese shop-houses with red-tiled roofs, Victorian architecture, Buddhist temples and Arab bazaars. It is a melting pot of people and cultures -- Malay, Chinese, English and Tamil are official languages; Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Hinduism and Christianity are the major faiths. Ever fascinating, Singapore boasts diverse cultures, luxurious hotels, and some of the finest duty-free shopping in the world.
Kuala Lumpur (Port Kelang), Malaysia
From once a huddle of kampongs in the trackless jungle, Kuala Lumpur has grown into a fascinating metropolis. Steel and glass towers stand side by side with graceful stone colonial buildings and mosques adorned with slender minarets. As cosmopolitan in architecture as it is in cultures, Malaysia is a multicultural nation of Malays, Chinese, Arabs, Hindus, Eurasians and Europeans. From Port Kelang, take a scenic drive to the "Malaysian Garden City" of Kuala Lumpur.
Penang, Malaysia
Once a British Colony that was a major trading port for tea, spices, china and cloth, Penang is an island where European, Malaysian, Hindu, Middle Eastern, and Chinese cultures met, melded, and flourished. Today, its capital, Georgetown, is a bustling cosmopolitan city that has managed to preserve its unique heritage and its exotic blend of cultures. Georgetown is perhaps the best-preserved city in Southeast Asia. It boasts a European-style esplanade and a wealth of temples, mosques and Chinese clan houses.
Phuket, Thailand
Phuket (pronounced poo-keht) is one of the premier travel destinations in Southeast Asia. Travelers from around the world are drawn to this province's stunning beaches, crystalline waters, and dramatic limestone peaks. Its mountainous interior is densely forested with mahogany, rubber trees, tropical evergreen, royal palm, ficus and bamboo.
Located on Thailand's long, thin southern coast and bordering Malaysia, Phuket island boasts a rich cultural mix of Thai, Malay, Chinese and Western influences.
Explore the modern shopping centers, take in a kickboxing match, visit the ancient Buddhist temples or go fishing and catch dinner. Plus, get your fill of snorkeling or scuba diving, as the diving is of world-class caliber.
Cochin, India
Located on the Kerala coast, Cochin has been a major seaport and trading center since before the days of the Roman Empire. Here, cultures from three continents met in trade, and this legacy is seen in the city's rich heritage. Cochin boasts a Portuguese church, a Dutch palace, an exquisite Synagogue, Chinese-style fishing nets, English Tudor-style mansions and old warehouses still bursting with spices and coir. Cochin is also your southern gateway to greater India.
Mumbai, India
India’s principal seaport, Bombay is ‘Mumbai’ in Marathi. The Portuguese acquired the city from Bahadur Shah in the 15th century; they called their new possession Bom Baim – ‘good bay'. Sprawling between the Western Ghats and the Indian Ocean, Bombay is India’s largest city and major commercial centre. Here film, cotton and other industries have produced the highest per capita income in India, yet one out of every three Bombayites dwells in squalid chawls. Along the Victorian Gothic streets, hawkers vend their wares while worshippers of all faiths queue up to make their offerings. Lavish mansions overlook palm-fringed shores while modern skyscrapers overlook foothills of poverty – the contrasts are startling.
Goa (Mormugao), India
The city of Mormugao in Goa state is situated on the west coast of India. Mormugao Harbour is one of the region's most impressive natural ports, offering an incredibly romantic view at sunset, especially when approaching from the waters of the Arabian Sea. Mormugao is a peaceful retreat from the larger cities, with its enchanting Portuguese architecture, golden beaches, and exquisite fresh seafood.
Male, Maldives
Male is the largest city in the Republic of Maldives, a chain of 1200 or so low-lying islands south-west of India. One of the world’s smallest capitals, it is nevertheless home to a third of the Maldives’ population and boasts big-city-style skyscrapers and shop-lined main streets. Protected from a capricious ocean by sea walls, it’s a green, pleasant mini-metropolis surrounded by isles renowned for white-sand beaches and world-class snorkelling and diving.
Mahé, Seychelles
The largest of the Seychelles islands, Mahé, is a 155-square-kilometre piece of paradise encircled by coral reefs, clear cerulean waters and fine white-sand beaches. Most of the Seychelles’ 80,000-strong population lives on Mahé, concentrated in its capital, Victoria.
Richards Bay, South Africa
Richards Bay, on the Mhlatuze River in northern KwaZulu-Natal, was set up as a makeshift port during the Anglo-Boer war and is now a thoroughly modern city. Built around South Africa's largest harbour, it’s a popular north-coast holiday destination, luring visitors with warm temperatures year-round, glorious natural environs and a string of unspoiled beaches.
Cape Town, South Africa
From Table Mountain to the Cape of Good Hope to the surrounding wine country, this South African city is a traveler's delight and a wonderful place to relax and spend a few more days. Visit Zimbabwe and see the spectacular and historic Victoria Falls. Perhaps, even experience a "game viewing" or take in a sunset cruise on a river in Botswana's Chobe National Park. It's a part of the world with so much undiscovered beauty, and it's all awaiting you.
Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Port Elizabeth is your gateway to some of the finest game parks in all Africa. Alternatively, there are miles of glorious beaches, shopping, museums, and an aquarium that showcases the marine life of the Indian Ocean. Take a wildlife safari, lounge on the beach, or explore the local culture in this vibrant port.
Durban, South Africa
Durban is South Africa's Riviera. Graced with a subtropical climate, washed by the warm waters of the Mozambique Current and blessed with golden beaches, the city attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Durban's unique mix of African, Asian and Western influences makes it South Africa's most cosmopolitan and sophisticated city.
Pointe des Galets, Reunion Island
Pointe des Galets is the principal port on 980-square-mile Reunion Island, marooned in the southern Indian Ocean, south-west of Mauritius. It is a lushly vegetated isle covered in palms, casuarinas, screw pines, tropical fruits, flowers, sugarcane and spices. Reunion, with its active volcano and botanic diversity, is often likened to Hawaii.
Port Louis, Mauritius
Mauritius is an island nation in the south-west Indian Ocean off Africa, about 900 kilometres east of Madagascar. It is famous as the only known home of the extinct giant bird, the Dodo. This serene oasis has experienced a recent boom in tourism, and areas such as Grand Bay, in the north, now teem with shops, eateries, bars and nightclubs.

In this instance, a replacement passenger will be accepted or remaining passengers will be charged the applicable fare (see ‘FARE BASIS’). An administration fee of AUD100 per person will apply for each replacement passenger accepted after deposit has been received. It is essential that your full passport name is given to us at the time of booking, as any correction/alteration to a passenger name after tickets/vouchers have been issued is subject to an AUD50 per person charge on each occasion.
AIRFARES: To be eligible to take a Princess organised airfare you must take a full cruise and travel on flights and airlines nominated by us. Airline baggage restrictions apply. Airfares do not include stopover accommodation. Bookings are subject to limited availability and conditions apply. Children 2 to 11 years and infants occupying a seat pay the full airfare for domestic flights. Infants not occupying a seat travel free on domestic flights. Additional charges may apply for flight requests which differ from our nominated flights and/or airlines.
AIR TICKETING: We will issue, as an agent only, documentation for travel on flights and airlines nominated by us, subject to airline schedules and availability. Flight requests are confirmed upon receipt of full payment from us. We cannot accept any responsibility where airline schedules or seat availability necessitates overnight hotel accommodation. Alterations to flights after flights have been booked will be subject to a minimum amendment fee of AUD100 per person up to the cost of new air ticket depending on the circumstances. Please note that flight amendments are subject to our booking class availability and additional charges may apply for flight requests which differ from our nominated flights and/or airlines. We reserve the right to pass on any additional airline charges imposed after flights have been booked.
MAKING YOUR OWN TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS: When arranging your own connecting air travel in conjunction with your Sun Princess or Dawn Princess cruise, please ensure your flight arrives no later than midday on the day of embarkation, and your return flight leaves no earlier than midday on the day of disembarkation. We will not be held responsible for any unforeseen circumstances that necessitate any changes to your travel arrangements.
Shore Tours and Landtours: These tours are operated by local independent companies. In selling tickets for these optional programmes, Princess Cruises acts only for other independent companies who provide such programmes as independent contractors and from whom Princess Cruises get a commission. Princess Cruises shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, illness or death arising from or occurring during a shore excursion or tour, whether or not such a shore excursion or tour was purchased through Princess Cruises.
Land and Air Arrangements: Princess Cruises shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, illness, death, cost of delay arising from or in connection with the services and facilities provided by or any act of an independent contractor such as airline, hotel, tour, restaurant rail or any other transport operator, etc., whether or not such arrangements were made by Princess Cruises.
Coach Packages: The coach package includes return travel only and cannot be used for oneway travel. Coach transfers are available on the day of embarkation and disembarkation only, and operation of the service is subject to minimum numbers.
HEALTH: Passengers’ wellbeing is our foremost concern and any recent/current physical or mental condition that may require medical attention or special treatment (including travelling with a wheelchair), must be advised to us at time of booking. In addition, we may require you to complete a pre-boarding medical questionnaire. If you are travelling with any medical apparatus, please advise us at time of booking so we can ensure this apparatus will operate on board and send you an information sheet where appropriate. A booking may be refused or cancelled after deposit for anyone whose state of physical or mental health renders them, in our opinion, unfit for travel, or anyone whose condition may constitute a danger to themselves or any other passenger. Details regarding wheelchair access are available at the time of booking. Your travel agent should check with us for details. A certificate of fitness may be required for passengers with a known medical condition and if so they should carry this with them on board. To aid in on board medical care these passengers may also be requested to bring with them a recent medical history from their own doctor and a list of current medications. All passengers must bring sufficient quantities of any prescribed medicines to last the duration of the cruise. Please note that travel insurance is essential.
VACCINATIONS AND HEALTH ADVISORIES: We recommend seasonal influenza vaccination for all passengers. Furthermore, you are strongly advised to seek advice from either your doctor or an approved public health travel advisory service, to identify any specific vaccination or health precautions required for each port of call, e.g. World Health Organisation (www.who.int/ith) or The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (www.dfat.gov.au) . Some countries strictly enforce certain health requirements. Failure to comply may result in the local authorities preventing passengers from going ashore and some may impose a monetary fine or deny the ship entry into the port.
PASSENGERS WITH DISABILITIES OR REQUIRING ASSISTANCE: Certain facilities are available for people with disabilities or who require assistance. Please ask your travel agent if you have any special needs.
MEDICAL SERVICES: The on board medical centre is staffed by full time, registered doctors and nurses. In addition to daily centre opening hours, the medical staff, headed by the Senior Doctor, are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide medical care for both passengers and crew in the event of an emergency. Charges for medical services will be added to your on board account and you will be provided with an itemised account to submit to your insurance company. Medical services on board are outside the scope of Australian Medicare and treatment is charged at private rates. All charges for consultations, treatments and medication, including those incurred on Australian coastal cruises, cannot be claimed on Australian Medicare. We strongly recommend that you arrange appropriate international travel insurance at time of booking. The Carrier is not a healthcare provider and shall not be liable for the death, injury or sickness of any passenger arising from any act or omission of doctors, nurses or other providers of medical services with respect to the treatment, advice, care or services of any kind given by such persons to any passenger. These medical providers exercise their own medical judgement and expertise.
DINING: Seating arrangements in the dining room are made by request on a first-come, firstserved basis. To request your preference for Traditional first or second seating, special diets, or seating with a specific party, it is best to have your travel agent make the request at the time of booking. Ultimate Balcony Dining™ is only available to passengers occupying a balcony stateroom and can only be requested once on board, subject to availability.
TIPPING: During your cruise, many members of our staff will provide you with excellent service, and tipping is simply the traditional way of saying ‘Thank You.’ Although tipping is voluntary, we suggest a daily amount of AUD10.00 on the Sun and Dawn Princess, and USD10.00 on all other Princess Ships. For passengers’ convenience, we have introduced a method of tipping that makes it easier to reward staff for their excellent service. The suggested amount of AUD10.00 or USD10.00 will be added to each passenger’s (aged 13 years and over) on board account on a daily basis. This allows for the collection of tips without the need for cash and helps to ensure all staff who have served you are rewarded. You can adjust or remove the standard daily charge at any time during your cruise, or direct it to specific staff who have provided excellent service. See the Pursers Desk for any queries.
CHILDREN: Children are not permitted to sail if, at the time of sailing, they are less than 12 months old. Due to the limited children’s and teenager’s facilities on board, there are restrictions on the number of children that can be accommodated in different age groups. Children’s dates of birth are required to be provided at time of booking in order to avoid exceeding these limits. Once the relevant limits have been reached we will not be able to accept bookings for any children in the applicable age group. Passengers under 18 years of age not cruising with their parents must provide a letter of consent from them when booking and must travel in a complete cabin with an adult (18 years or over). For cruises S820, D837, D838 and D839 any passenger under the age of 21 years at the time of travel must travel in the same cabin as their parent or legal guardian. There must be a minimum of two full fares in each cabin before children’s fares can be applied. Infants 12 months to 2 years 11 months are welcome to travel, however they will be required to be cared for, accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times throughout the cruise. There will be a charge for evening child activities in the youth centre between 10pm and 1am for children 3 to 12 years. Restrictions may apply for children’s access to the whirlpool spas.
PREGNANCY: We cannot accept any passenger who will have entered the 24th (or later) week of pregnancy by the end of the cruise.
ILLICIT SUBSTA NCES: We reserve the right to search your person and/or luggage for any illicit substances and reserve the right to deny boarding or to disembark any persons in possession of illicit substances.
ALCOHOL: The legal age to consume alcohol on board is 18 years. To ensure the safety and comfort of all on board, we wish to advise that passengers are not permitted to take on any alcohol for personal consumption. Duty-free and personal alcohol purchased shore side, must be surrendered by passengers at embarkation or prior to boarding in any port. All alcohol will be held under bond and returned at disembarkation in the final port of call. Please note that all luggage, both hand and check-in, will be x-rayed at embarkation. At disembarkation, individuals must declare to Customs all amounts of alcohol in excess of the local Customs limit. Carrier reserves the right to refuse to serve alcohol to any passenger for any reason. For those whose age is questionable, photo identification may be requested.
SMOKING: Certain sections of the ship are designated as ‘Non-Smoking’, including all dining areas. We kindly ask you not to smoke in these areas. Also, as a courtesy to your fellow passengers, please refrain from smoking pipes and cigars.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: At time of deposit, it is essential that you take out comprehensive international travel insurance to cover charges arising should you have to cancel your holiday. Please note that not all reasons for cancellation will be covered by insurance. Carefully check the type of insurance cover before purchasing. Travel insurance is also essential at the time of travel to cover any medical expenses, pre-existing medical conditions and lost or damaged luggage. Carrier may not be liable for lost or damaged baggage and personal property. Arrange a policy with your travel agent when booking, and carry a copy of the policy with you on your cruise holiday.
FARE BASIS: Your cruise fare is determined by the number of passengers aged 12 months and over sharing your stateroom, its location on the ship and the type of amenities offered. Your ‘total fare’ includes the cruise fare, discounts, charges, government taxes (excluding the Passenger Movement Charge where applicable), airline/airport taxes and fees, hotels and supplementary airfares, but are subject to change without notice. Princess Savers are subject to availability and cabins are set aside in selected grades which are available with the Princess Savers discount of up to 30%. Once these cabins are sold the fare may revert to an alternative discount or the full brochure fare and we reserve the right to do this at any time. ‘Princess Savers’ apply per person. All other information, including itinerary details and ground arrangements are subject to change without notice. No refunds are available when changes do occur. We can provide up-to-date advice.
SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL FARES: On occasions we will advertise special promotional fares, and we reserve the right to release and withdraw these fares at any time. Special promotional fares are applicable for new bookings only, and any person cancelling an existing booking of a published brochure fare to re-book on a special promotional fare on the same cruise will be subject to the cancellation fees. Please see the ‘CANCELLATIONS’ clause. Promotional fare cabins are berthed at our discretion, and no specific cabin or berth requests will be taken. Cabin numbers will be advised at embarkation, and we reserve the right to change your allocated cabin at any time.
YOUR FARE INCLUDES: Cruise fares include accommodation from the initial point of embarkation to the final point of disembarkation, as specified in the itinerary, and all main meals and entertainment while on board.
YOUR FARE DOES NOT INCLUDE: Cruise fares do not include airfares (unless specifically mentioned); transfers (except as noted in the itinerary); shore excursions; sightseeing or meals ashore (except as noted in the itinerary); gratuities to ship personnel, waiters, escorts and drivers (except as noted in the itinerary); beverages (not part of the regular menu); laundry and dry cleaning services; service charges at bars and alternative restaurants on board; valet services; or any other item of a personal nature such as, but not limited to, spa services, snacks, photographs and medical services. Or anything not mentioned in the ‘Your fare includes’ section above.
PASSPORTS AND DOCUMENTAT ION: All passengers are required to have a valid passport for a cruise with an overseas (international) destination. Passports are not required on S808N, S809N, S813, S815, S818, S819, S906, S907, S908, S909, S915, D836, D904, D910 and D912 cruises; but some form of photo identification is required on these cruises, such as a driver’s license. We recommend that if you hold a valid passport, this should be the form of identification that you travel with. If you hold other than an Australian or New Zealand passport you should check with your travel agent about visa requirements. Passports and visas must be valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the date of the cruise return. To comply with Australian Government Immigration Department requirements, it is essential that the full name (as shown in passport) and date of birth of each passenger be given to us at time of booking.
VISAS: There are many regulations that apply to differing nationalities and countries and it is the responsibility of you and your travel agent to ensure that you are in possession of the necessary documents to transit the countries included in your itinerary. Please note that travel on board will not re-validate an Australian re-entry visa.
Luggage: Princess Cruises carries all personal luggage provided each item conforms to the size limits of no more than 140cm x 60cm x 40cm and should not exceed 32kg in weight. For passengers booking airfares, additional airline luggage restrictions will apply.
